New Legend Newcastle: All you need to know

A better alternative to Lifeline?

From being able to pull downed teammates into cover and away from enemy fire. To reviving those same players under the cover of your all new revive shield. There is no doubt that players will be getting more aggressive with their play styles while they have Newcastle to back them up.

Oh, by the way, you should check out the Newcastle trailer. That is if you haven't already done so.

Anyways, let's get into more detail about this new legend. We know that Newcastle can drag teammates and revive them. He also uses his shield to provide the downed teammate with cover. This really does remind me of the early Lifeline days. Hence why it is kind of sad to say, but Lifeline has most likely been killed for this new season. I hope we will see buffs to her in the near future.

Back to Newcastle, if I have done my research correctly. Newcastle's shields function off of his own knock-down shield. Meaning, the higher tier knock-down shield you get/find the better your revive shield will operate. This is awesome though. If you think about it. Knock-down shields have always been a little underrated. So this kind of brings more relevance to that in-game item.

Let me get straight to the point and wrap this up for you.

Newcastle Abilities:

Passive - Retrieve the Wounded

  • Using his wrist mounted Revive Shield, Newcastle can protect himself and his companion from incoming fire while he revives and pulls his ally to safety. The Revive Shield is powered by Newcastle's own Knockdown Shield, so finding higher levels of this item increases the strength of this ability.

Tactical - Mobile Shield

  • Newcastle creates a hovering energy shield and can control its movement to adapt to the ever changing combat fronts of the battlefield. Advance the line, cover a retreat or turn the shield to guard against a sudden flank. The Mobile Shield's versatility and top/bottom shield projections give creative opportunities to the tactical defender.

Ultimate - Castle Wall

  • Drawing his signature shield from his back, Newcastle leaps into action and slams the shield to the ground activating the construction of a massive fortress to give him and his allies a strong defensive position. Enemies in its wake are knocked back and those who try to push through the energized wall are punished and slowed.
